Krochet Kids International – Changing Lives, One Hat at a Time

January 25th, 2012 · No Comments · Uncategorized

“Krochet kids International is a not-for-profit organization which works with impoverished people in Northern Uganda and more recently Peru. The team teaches women in these countries the art of crocheting. The resulting products are sold in NordStrom stores or online and every product carries with it the signature of the woman who crocheted it. The women are paid for these products and this enables them to provide for their families as well as gives them a sense of usefulness.”

Damilola Ashaolu, a member of the Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility Junto team, found that empowering the poor in developed countries can be done through a variety of ways — including crocheting.

In the article, she shares her interview with the Krochet Kids team — Kohl Crecelius, Stewart Ramsey and Travis Hartanov – who used crocheting to make a difference.
